Hello
I'm using now Retrospect as backup software that was coming with my
external WD Book Harddisc, but I'm often getting trouble with full
disc-space because of wrong incremental backup functions. Now I'm
searching for an alternative to Retrospect. Important is the ability of
incremental backups. Does anybody know such an application?
Thanks in advance

I wouldn't expect the disc space issue to go away whatever
product I used.
I've got a love-hate relationship with my Retrospect 6.0.
Miserable, pitiful, execrable UI... but the functionality is
there and it seems tb one of the few games in town that will do
selective restores of different versions of a file.
What's the problem with "wrong incremental backup functions"?
If you work at it long enough, eventually it's possible to coerce
Retrospect into ignoring files you don't want backed up.

You can try our new backup software, Geminisoft Scrinium. Please refer to
www.geminisoft.com. Incremental backups are supported.

Hello Pete
The problem is, that each time it copy all data over again although the
data didn't change. one whole backup of my data is nearly 150gb and my
backup-drive is 250gb - so the second backup-process failed because it
copies all data again.
....and I also don't want every day to see my retrospect making a backup
during almost 2 hours!
I tried the option to keep only one backup of each file and the
recommended configuration of retrospect for incremental backups (in the
backup-set options).

I'm using 6.0 and you're probably using 7.something - so I
probably cannot cite specific menu choices.
Having said that...
It sounds to me like you are telling Retrospect to do a full
backup each time.
My Retro's UI talks about something called a "Progressive"
backup, which I suspect the rest of the world calls
"Incremental".
I suspect that you need to figure out how to tell Retro to do
incremental backups instead of a full backup each time.

I'm using the newest version of 7.5...

The assistant gives me 3 diffrent options (translated from german):
- to backup
- to dublicate
- to archive
I used since now "archive" - today I try "backup" ... we will see
tomorrow...
thanks for your help!

Still does not sound right.
Look further and try to find a distinction between "full" and
"incremental" backups (or whatever that translates to in
German... -)
