|
|
I am about to start on a new project using Rational Rose. I have
background in UML but none with Rose.
I have searched amazon.com for books and have found two likely candidates:
"Mastering UML with Rational Rose 2002" by Wendy and Michael Boggs, and
"Visual Modeling with Rational Rose 2002 and UML" by Terry Quatrani. At
least the first of these comes with a CD, but so far I haven't found any
information about what is on the CD.
Do either of these, or any other books, come with a limited version of
Rose that is suitable for learning how to use it?
Is there available from any other source a limited version of Rose
suitable for self-training?
I know that one can get a demo version of Rose but it's only good for 15
days and I need to be able to use it for longer than that. :-)
Thanks... |

I just evaluated a bunch of free/open UML tools, and there's one that looks
similar to Rose (in fact is the one I choose since I'm very familiar with
Rose): http://bouml.free.fr/
The good thing is that is not in java, so it runs pretty fast...
If you can get a hold of Rose try it anyway, I couldn't find any place to
download it. IBM replaced it.

Why?
It is 2007, there are much better choices out there even from IBM-
Rational.
But if you are stuck with it, the documentation PDFs provided
with the tool are pretty good. |
