CALL FOR PAPERS
Software/systems engineering for autonomic application software
https://syst.eui.upm.es/conferences/icci07/

Special Session at

The 6th IEEE International Conference of Cognitive Informatics ICCI 2007
http://www.ecs.csus.edu/webconf/ICCI2007/
http://www2.enel.ucalgary.ca/ICCI2007/
August 6-8, 2007, Mont Blue Hotel (Caesars Palace), Lake Tahoe,
California, USA

Session Description

An increasingly important requirement for software-intensive systems is
the ability to take their own `decisions on properties. They are usually
deined by the self-* features: self-management, self-adaptation,
self-evolution, self-manage, self-configuration, etc. For instance,
self-management refers to the ability of systems to configure and
reconfigure itself, continually tune and optimize itself, protect and
recover itself, while keeping its complexity hidden from the user. These
topics have been studied in a significant number of application areas
(software services, robotics, control systems, ) and with ideas coming
from different areas (software architectures, programming languages, user
interfaces, decision taking systems, ).

The session aims at bringing together researchers working on the area of
the design, implementation, and validation of software and systems that
must have some autonomic properties. It promotes the cross-fertilizing
exchange of ideas and experiences among researchers and students from
different approaches to the problem : software engineering, formal
methods, intelligent systems, cognition, etc. in order to discuss the
fundamental principles, state of the art, and critical challenges of
autonomic application software from a software engineering perspective.
Submission of papers describing research results and experience reports on
the topic are welcome.

Topics

The session solicits papers in all topics of the area including (but not
limited to):
• Specification, design and architectural language support for the self-*
properties of software.
• Algorithms into self-* software: decision taking, semantic context,
profiles, etc.
• Verification and validation for self-* properties.
• Formal notations for modeling and analysis of self-* software.
• Software/systems engineering for the adaptation of user needs in systems.
• Non functional requirements such as availability, safety, security or
maintenability.
• Rapid prototyping. Applications.

Important Dates

Prospective authors should submit their abstract(s) via the on-line
system by March 12,
and indicate the title of this special session. If as prospective author
you would like to submit a paper but
you are unable to do so because of the deadline you are strongly
encouraged to contact session organizers.

Submission of full papers: Monday, March 19, 2007
Notification of acceptance: Monday, April 23, 2007
Camera-ready papers due: Friday, May 18, 2007
